breading tips

hey everyone, i have a 1 1/2 year old blue nose pit bull female. she is just now showing signs of going into her next period cycle. i want to breed here but not 100% sure when the correct time to introduce the male would be,i have heard that she wont accept a male until a certain point in the cycle.. any info on this would be great help! thank you!
